Tommy Docherty presents Rob Cartwright from Macmillan with a cheque for £4006.36
Staff from Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency have been putting the fun into fun-draising for Macmillan Cancer Support. The agency staff participated in the Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning, volunteered support at the Glasgow half marathon, hosted a charity golf event and raised money at a range of social events throughout last year.
This week Tommy Docherty, Depute Chief Executive for Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency presented Rob Cartwright from Macmillan Cancer Support with a cheque for £4006.36.
Rob Cartwright from Macmillan Cancer Support stated, ‘“The staff at GSWRA have been brilliant and have achieved a fantastic fundraising total over the course of 2009. Macmillan receives no government funding so it is only through the support of business, groups and individuals of the communities of Glasgow that we can fund vital cancer services for the West of Scotland. The funds that GSWRA’s staff have raised will enable Macmillan to change lives. £4,006 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a month, helping hundreds of people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.”
The agency’s Depute Chief Executive, Tommy Docherty said, ‘there has been a long standing tradition that GSWRA staff nominate and raise money for good causes every year. I’m delighted that this year we’ve been working with Macmillan Cancer Support. It is such a worthy cause – just about everyone you know is touched by cancer in someway.
Tommy added, ‘our fundraising activities are a great opportunity for all the staff raise money for good causes while at the same time having social fun time away from work. We’ve raised over £4,000 as a company this year for Macmillan and it’s great to know that the money we’ve raised will go towards making life easier for local people at such a difficult time.’
