Who We Are

Building the Communities of the South West Glasgow

Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency is one of Glasgow's five Local Regeneration Agencies (LRA's), serving the communities of South West Glasgow. We deliver a range of services to support the local communities; many of these in partnership with the other LRA's in the network, but many which are specific to local needs and as such are delivered in partnership with local organisations and companies active in the South West.

Since April 2007 Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency has been working hard to improve the life for people living and working in the south west of Glasgow. The company may be new but it comes with an excellent pedigree and successful track record in regeneration. Two former Local Development Companies "Govan Initiative" and "Equip" joined forces in 2007 to create a central agency that focuses on developing the south west Glasgow.

Strengthening communities is at the heart of everything we do - working tirelessly to stimulate, develop, grow and sustain the area to make it an attractive place to live and work. Overall, Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency is concerned with getting people back into work, creating training opportunities, developing a strong and diverse business base, making communities safe and giving young people a positive route into education or employment.

We are interested in building community spirit, working in partnership with other agencies to make a difference every day to the lives of people of the south west. We work with a wide range of local partners including CHCP, Housing Associations, Strathclyde Police, GP's, Social Work Department, Social Economy Organisations, Glasgow South Business Club, Govan & Craigton and Greater Pollok, Newlands/Auldburn Local Community Planning Partnerships, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and even, Rangers Football Club. In fact, we are happy to work with anyone that we think will help us in our quest to make the area one that local people are proud to be part of.

Over the last year we've helped 2,768 people into employment, supported 487 people to achieve a recognised qualification, worked personally with 297 companies and social economy organizations, facilitated 9 new organisations to start-up in business and carried out 414 environmental clean-ups and reclaimed 5 community spaces. We have over 240 experienced and dedicated members of staff and operate from over 20 locations around the south west.

Over the next 3 years Glasgow South West Regeneration will aim to reach people at the fringes of society and help those most in need get back into work. We'll create more nursery places, add to the skills of the area via training, seek to help and assist young people into jobs and training as well as working to make our communities safe - free from anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
